The concept of time is perhaps one of the most profound and elusive mysteries that has ever captivated human thought. No human factor, no matter how intelligent or insightful, can truly unravel its depths. Time, as we all know, has no respect for anything or anyone. It marches forward relentlessly, an unseen force that governs every aspect of our existence. It is seen to be of such essence that it should be used judiciously, yet paradoxically, it is never truly "available" in the sense of being static or abundant. Before one even fully grasps its presence, it is fast disappearing, slipping through our fingers like grains of sand. This enigmatic nature of time has continued to baffle all human imaginations and comprehensions, leaving us in a perpetual state of wonder and often, anxiety. As costly and valuable as time is, it can never be created or bought to have enough. No matter our efforts, time continues to run out on everybody in the process of life's engagements. Eve...
Every individual's allocated time on earth, from the moment of birth to the final breath, always feels insufficient. This inherent non-availability of time exerts immense pressure on everyone, compelling us to rush, to achieve, to experience, before the given moments fizzle away. The real expiration of time given to man on earth comes mostly unannounced, adding another layer to its mystery and urgency. Natural time, in its relentless march, offers no apologies for running out on anyone.
Consider this sobering truth: the time frame of anyone's entire life often feels inadequate to achieve even an average measure of their aspirations. As a matter of fact, people's daily problems often weigh so heavily that they seem to exceed the time available to solve them. This is why so many people find themselves running with nothing when time ultimately runs out on them. What a profound mystery!
Can I tell you something? The non-availability of time often shatters dreams and aspirations. In our hurried pursuit of goals, so many mistakes are made, so many corners cut. And tragically, time is not always available to revisit those mistakes, to make necessary corrections, or to learn from our missteps. If you observe carefully, you'll see people making errors in countless things they do. When you try to draw their attention to these for correction, a common response is, "There's no time for that." So, they tend to leave it, forging ahead, often compounding the initial error. You can imagine the mess time is making of humanity, driving us forward without the luxury of reflection or rectification. No one, dead or alive, has ever been able to perfectly match all of their life's agendas with the allocated time. It's an impossible human feat.
God: The Master Beyond Time.
But there is one supreme Being who defies this human limitation. God is the only one who can truly unravel the mystery of time. He created time, and crucially, He stepped out of time to control time. Hallelujah! This is where our human struggle meets divine sovereignty.
The mystery of time is beyond any magician, astrologer, or science wizard. They may possess the ability to interpret time and seasons, like the children of Issachar mentioned in 1 Chronicles 12:32 (NLT): "From the tribe of Issachar, there were 200 chiefs, all men who understood the times and knew what Israel should do. And they had all their relatives under their command." These wise men could discern the opportune moments, but they had no ability to elongate, control, or restore time to any being. That power belongs solely to God.
God's Eternal Perspective on Time.
The Bible consistently reminds us of God's eternal nature and His mastery over time.
Psalm 90:4 (NLT) declares,
"For you, a thousand years are but as yesterday when it is past, or as a few hours of the night."
This verse highlights God's perspective, where our concept of vast periods is but a fleeting moment to Him. He is not bound by the ticking clock that governs our lives.
2 Peter 3:8 (NLT) further reinforces this:
"But you must not forget this one thing, dear friends: A day is like a thousand years to the Lord, and a thousand years is like a day."
This isn't just a poetic statement; it's a profound truth about God's transcendence over the very fabric of time. He exists outside of it, yet orchestrates every moment within it.
He is the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end, as stated in
Revelation 1:8 (NLT):
"I am the Alpha and the Omega—the beginning and the end,” says the Lord God. “I am the one who is, who always was, and who is still to come—the Almighty.”"
Living Purposefully Within God's Time
Since God is the ultimate Master of time, our anxiety about its fleeting nature can be transformed into trust. Instead of being driven by the fear of "not enough time," we can learn to live purposefully within the time God has given us, knowing that He has a perfect plan for every season.
Ecclesiastes 3:1 (NLT) wisely states,
"For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven."
This reminds us that there is a divine order to all things, and God's timing is always perfect.
Our responsibility, then, is to make the most of the time we have, not in a frantic rush, but with wisdom and intentionality.
Ephesians 5:15-16 (NLT) admonishes us,
"So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days."
Similarly, Colossians 4:5 (NLT) encourages,
"Live wisely among those who are not believers, and make the most of every opportunity."
Conclusion: Rest in the Master of Time
The mystery of time, which so often overwhelms and frustrates humanity, finds its ultimate resolution in the sovereignty of God. He is not a prisoner of time; He is its Creator and its Controller. He holds every moment, every season, and every destiny in His capable hands.
Therefore, let us surrender our anxieties about time to the One who stands outside of it, yet orchestrates every second within it. Let us trust that the God who created the universe and set the stars in motion also has a perfect plan for our individual lives, a plan that unfolds beautifully within His divine timing. We may not understand the full mystery of time, but we can rest in the unwavering truth that the Master of Time is good, faithful, and always in control. More so , it is Important to know that no matter how much time you think you have wasted, the Master of Time has His own Time. When His Time runs into you, all the time you think you have wasted will restored. Hallelujah!
I admonish you on this last note to keep hope alive, for God the Master planner makes All Things Beautiful in His own Time.
