EVANGELISM: THE HEARTBEAT OF GOD - WHY SHARING JESUS IS OUR HIGHEST CALLING

Have you ever wondered what truly moves the heart of God? What stirs His divine passion and brings Him immense joy? The answer, woven throughout the tapestry of Scripture, is evangelism – the glorious act of sharing the good news of Jesus Christ with a lost and hurting world. It is, without a doubt, the very heartbeat of God.

In a world grappling with uncertainty, despair, and a desperate search for meaning, the message of hope, redemption, and eternal life through Jesus is not just relevant; it is essential. This blog post will explore why evangelism is so central to God's character, our divine mandate, and how we can effectively participate in this life-changing mission.

1. The Divine Mandate: Why Evangelism is God's Heartbeat

At the core of God's being is boundless love. His desire is not for anyone to perish, but for all to come to repentance and experience the fullness of life found in Him. This profound love is the driving force behind evangelism.

John 3:16 (NIV) beautifully encapsulates this truth:

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

God's love compelled Him to send His Son, Jesus, to bridge the chasm created by sin. He longs for reconciliation with His creation. This isn't a passive wish; it's an active, passionate pursuit. The very reason Jesus came, lived, died, and rose again was to make salvation available to all.

2 Peter 3:9 (NIV) further reveals His heart:

"The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance."

This divine patience and desire for repentance underscore the urgency and importance of evangelism. It's not merely a suggestion; it's a reflection of God's deepest longing for His children to come home. When we engage in evangelism, we align our hearts with His, participating in the greatest rescue mission ever conceived.

2. The Great Commission: Our Call to Action

Jesus, before His ascension, gave His disciples a clear, unequivocal command – a mandate known as the Great Commission. This isn't just for a select few; it's a universal call to every believer.

Matthew 28:19-20 (NIV) states:

"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

And in Mark 16:15 (NIV):

"He said to them, 'Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.'"

This commission is not an option; it's a command. It's our marching orders. We are called to "go" – to step out of our comfort zones and intentionally share the life-transforming message of Jesus. This includes not only proclaiming the good news but also discipling new believers, teaching them to live a life obedient to Christ.

The urgency of this call cannot be overstated. Every day, countless individuals live without the hope that only Jesus can provide. As believers, we are the vessels through whom God's love and truth can reach them.

3. Overcoming Fears and Excuses in Evangelism

Many believers feel inadequate or fearful when it comes to sharing their faith. Common excuses include: "I don't know enough," "I'm afraid of rejection," or "That's the pastor's job." However, God has equipped us for this task.

Philippians 4:13 (NIV) reminds us:

"I can do all this through him who gives me strength."

The power to evangelize doesn't come from our own eloquence or knowledge, but from the Holy Spirit who dwells within us.

2 Timothy 1:7 (NIV) assures us:

"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind."

When we step out in faith, the Holy Spirit empowers us, gives us the right words, and prepares the hearts of those we speak to. Our role is simply to be available and willing. God uses ordinary people to do extraordinary things for His kingdom.

4. Practical Approaches to Sharing the Gospel

Evangelism isn't always about standing on a street corner with a megaphone. It often begins with genuine relationships and a life that reflects Christ.

Live a Christ-like Life: Let your actions speak louder than words. Matthew 5:16 (NIV) says: "In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven." Your integrity, kindness, and joy can be a powerful testimony.

Share Your Personal Testimony: People may argue with theology, but they can't argue with your personal experience. Share how Jesus has changed your life. Keep it concise and focused on your life before Christ, how you met Him, and the difference He has made.

Invite and Include: Invite friends, family, and colleagues to church events, small groups, or even just for coffee to build relationships. Create opportunities for them to encounter other believers and hear the Gospel in a non-threatening environment.

Simple Gospel Presentation: Learn a simple way to explain the core message of the Gospel (God's love, humanity's sin, Jesus' sacrifice, and the call to repentance and faith). Resources like the "Four Spiritual Laws" or "Romans Road" can be helpful starting points.

Pray Fervently: Pray for opportunities to share your faith and for the hearts of those you want to reach. Prayer is the engine of evangelism.

5. The Eternal Impact: Why Every Soul Matters

The stakes of evangelism are eternal. Every person has an immortal soul, destined for either eternal life with God or eternal separation from Him. This profound truth should ignite a passion within us to share the Gospel.

Luke 15:7 (NIV) reveals the joy in heaven:

"I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent."

Imagine the celebration in heaven when someone accepts Jesus because of your willingness to share! The value of a single soul is immeasurable to God. He paid the ultimate price – the life of His Son – to redeem humanity. When we engage in evangelism, we participate in bringing joy to the heart of God and securing an eternal future for another precious soul.

Conclusion: Join God's Heartbeat

Evangelism is not a burden; it is a privilege. It is our opportunity to partner with God in His greatest passion – the salvation of souls. It is the very heartbeat of God, pulsating with love, hope, and an urgent desire for all to know Him.

Don't let fear or inadequacy hold you back. God has called you, equipped you, and promised to be with you. Step out in faith today. Share the good news of Jesus with someone. Live a life that points to Him. Pray for the lost.

If you are reading this and have never accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, know that God loves you deeply. He desires a relationship with you. You can respond to His heartbeat today by confessing your sins, believing in Jesus' death and resurrection, and inviting Him into your heart.

Let us, as believers, align our hearts with God's and become active participants in His divine mission. Let the heartbeat of God resonate through us, bringing light and life to a world in desperate need.

Remain Ever Blessed of God!

WHO IS A BELIEVER? AN IN-DEPTH EXPOSITION

A believer is not merely someone who professes faith in Jesus Christ but one who has the very nature of Christ dwelling within him or her. This divine nature shapes the believer’s mindset, influencing thoughts, attitudes, and actions in every aspect of life. To be a believer means to operate consistently in the character and spirit of Christ.   The Biblical Foundation:   Galatians 2:20(KJV) “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.”  This verse beautifully captures the essence of a believer’s identity. The old self, dominated by sin and worldly desires, is crucified with Christ. The believer’s life is no longer their own but is now lived by the faith and power of Jesus Christ living within. This union with Christ transforms the believer’s nature an...

CHRIST IS THE BEGINNING AND THE END OF LIFE

UNDERSTAND THIS AND GET                        PEACE FOREVER.     Life Begins With Christ And Ends With Christ. He is THE ONLY DETERMINER of how you come to this world, who become your parents, your date of birth, your time of birth and your place of birth. Not even you or Satan have any say on that.   Revelation 22:13 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.   However, Christ may not be the sole determiner of how you journey your life as the power of choice has been given to all mankind.  Deuteronomy 30:19  I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live: You could see from Revelation 22:13 that He is The Beginning and The Ending. But He didn't say I'm The...

YOU ARE BORN TO LIVE AND WIN: REJECT SATAN'S DECEPTIVE OFFERS

It is your birthright to live the God-given life and to continue winning in every area. Please, do not sell your precious life to Satan, the devil. Satan is always at work, trying to buy your life with his three-point agenda: to steal, kill, and destroy. The Enemy’s Agenda and God’s Promise John 10:10 (KJV): “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” Satan’s goal is to rob you of your abundant life, but God’s promise is clear: He came so you can live abundantly and win continuously. Say “NO” to Satan’s Deceptive Offers You must firmly say “NO” to Satan’s deceptive offers. God has given us life in abundance to live victoriously every day. Psalm 118:17 (KJV): “I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the LORD.” You were born to live, regardless of the negative reports or discouraging words you have heard. What others say about you is not powerful enough to counte...
