Irrespective of what Abraham saw, he was not afraid. He knew God was able to perform what He had promised concerning his life. Faith is the custodian of every man’s destiny. It is a spiritual force that puts any believer in command of the affairs of life.
Faith Is Essential to Please God
Hebrews 11:6 (KJV):
“But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”
From this scripture, we see that faith is an unbypassable requirement to please God and to receive any desired testimony. Faith is the foundation upon which God releases His blessings and answers prayers. Without faith, it is impossible to access the power and promises of God.
Faith Creates and Sustains the World
Hebrews 11:3 (KJV):
“Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.”
Faith is the spiritual force behind creation and the sustaining power of all things. It is the unseen reality that shapes the visible world. This means that faith is not just a feeling or hope but a powerful, creative force that brings things into existence and maintains them.
What Is Faith?
According to Hebrews 11:1, faith can be paraphrased as the conclusion in the heart, based on the evidence of what God has done in the past, that He will do it again and again.
This means you capitalize on God’s past testimonies and begin to reshape your world by your words through faith. Your beliefs in God’s testimonies form the foundation of your faith. Satan cannot attack you until he attacks your beliefs. When faith is strong, fear cannot take root.
Fear Is the Absence of Faith
Lack of faith gives ground to fear, and fear gives ground to Satan to attack. Fear and faith are both spirits (see 2 Timothy 1:7), and they cannot coexist in the same place at the same time. One must give way for the other.
Fear is a victimizer that victimizes its candidates. People become victims of what they fear.
Job 3:25 (KJV):
“For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me.”
No matter how righteous or holy you are, if you are afraid, you give the devil access to attack you at will.
The Example of Job: Fear Opens the Door to the Enemy
Satan could not touch Job until Job became afraid. Job was unaware that God was protecting him.
Job 1:10 (KJV):
“Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.”
Seeing how God protected others in the past and believing that God will protect you triggers the reality of God’s protection in your life.
How to Overcome Fear
1. Gain Adequate Knowledge of God’s Word
Proverbs 24:5 (KJV):
“A wise man is strong; yea, a man of knowledge increaseth strength.”
When knowledge comes, strength comes.
Daniel 11:32 (KJV):
“But the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.”
Knowing God closely terrifies your terrors—even the most wicked devil.
2. Embrace Your Divine Nature
God’s nature is undying, fearless, and unfailing. When you are born again, you receive this same nature.
2 Peter 1:3-4 (KJV):
“According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.”
This divine nature gives you the leverage to carry God’s power and put fear to flight.
3. Recognize the Presence of God’s Angels
The knowledge of God’s Word also reveals that angels are encamped around you to give guidance and protection.
Psalm 34:7 [KJV]
The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.
Hebrews 1:14 [KJV]
Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?
Meditate daily on God’s promises to build your faith and renew your mind.
Declare “Fear not” scriptures over your life every day to reinforce your faith.
Speak boldly against fear and doubt whenever they arise.
Surround yourself with faith-filled believers who encourage and uplift you.
Pray continually for strength and courage to face challenges without fear.
Final Encouragement
Fear ends in your life from now on, in Jesus’ name. Walk daily in faith, knowing that God’s promises are true and His protection is real.
